A Friday night in Shoreditch is rarely a relaxed affair. The pavements strewn with post work drinkers while local venues throb with revellers warming up for a weekend they won’t remember. Despite its proximity to Old Street station, Lantana’s friendly, laid back staff and coffee house vibe offer a relaxed setting in which to enjoy scrumptious plates and heady evening cocktails. Sounds like a winning formula to Team Flavour!

Lantana Cafe

Lantana has all bases covered: They offer Negroni and Espresso Martini’s to get the party started and hearty breakfast with rich gourmet coffee to get you back on track the following morning. We sampled their evening menu, which pleasingly balanced healthy with indulgent. Favouring indulgence first, we picked some wild mushroom arancini with truffle oil aioli & parmesan to start. A sublime blend of our favourite foodie treats, these were truly epic. Coupled with a crisp order of sesame squid with hot sriracha aioli, we’d set off on the right foot.

The mains took a health-conscious turn but still managed to stay delicious. The cauliflower chickpea cakes, spinach, edamame, quinoa cauliflower ‘rice’, pickle, green tahini, muhammara, pomegranate, sumac almonds. All enjoyably fresh and light on the palette. The chicken schnitzel was accompanied with an apple, fennel and kohlrabi salad, which contrasted well with the warm breadcrumb and tasty parmesan coating. The starter roused our arancini craving and dessert delivered a satisfying fix. Coconut arancini with salted caramel, coconut yoghurt and toasted coconut sounded too good to miss, so we didn’t. They were awesome!

Lantana made a nice change from our usual Friday night onslaught of bright lights and big drinking but with that said, they’ve got space for a party and we’d anticipate some eventful Christmas parties may be on the cards. Be it time for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks, Lantana Shoreditch is flowering with possibilities.
