BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE AT BUNGA BUNGA

A Friday night out in Covent Garden was never going to be a quiet affair. When the good folk at Bunga Bunga welcomed us and some close friends to enjoy a front-row table at their famed Italian Circus dinner-show, we knew we were in for a wild night. Coats taken, we were ushered downstairs to the salubrious main room. Our table was within touching distance of the band, who were enthusiastically belting out crowd pleasers to an already lively audience. A few bottles of fizz were ordered to ready ourselves for a wonderful evening of feasting and fun.

We ordered from the Celebrazioni feasting menu, which offered plenty of Italian favourites to savour and share. Olives, focaccia and cured meats gave us plenty to nibble with our prosecco. Some tasty plates of Chicken Milanese and fried dough balls with pecorino presented a lovely warming bite. We enjoyed a selection of pizzas for mains, with gluten-free and vegetarian options available, along with playfully named favourites such as the Italian Stallion and Italy’s Fun-Guy. There were no desserts, but who cares when you’re given a shot of Limoncello instead. Anyway, tonight was all about entertainment, and boy were we entertained!

The aforementioned band were fantastic! Their energy kept the room in a frenzy. Guests could even take to the stage and sing along rockaoke-style. We even stepped up to deliver a drunkenly rousing performance of livin’ on a prayer, good enough for Jon Bon Jovi himself. Throughout the night we saw mimes, a saucy pineapple woman, a bawdy ring-mistress and an acrobatic lady who did fantastic things with a set of glowing hula hoops. The whole room was buzzing with excitement and we all felt thoroughly entertained. We doubt even a Berlusconi party could be this much fun.

Bunga Bunga would certainly be a great choice for a celebration to be remembered. We had a wonderful evening and there’s plenty of fun available for groups of all sizes. We’ll be heading back soon to check out another show.
